Sound, vision and personal choice
Multi room audio and video Case Study Emerging technologies, new materials and inspired design have transformed the modest dwellings into spacious family homes. And the pace of progress continues. Whilst retaining the old facade, the house has been virtually rebuilt to provide 25,000 square feet of living space.
A multi-room audio system has been installed with each room being able to control its own choice of entertainment – DAB radio, music library, TV and 2-i Pod docking stations. We designed the whole project based around being a future proof family home that makes its new owners feel right at home.
We designed and installed an 36 Zone audio and video system that was available in every room in the property.
In the master bedroom en suite we fitted a 24” Avuavision with a floating remote and bespoke ceiling speakers to give that real quality sound. It also had its own water resistant Touch panel to choose and control the music of the client’s choice.
In the master bedroom, designed and spec’d a 42” LED TV on a custom bracket that can be moved to suit the client. We also fitted ceiling speakers in this room, and all sources where available at their pleasure.
In the kitchen area we installed an iPod docking station which has access to all the clients music. We also fitted a 46” LED TV that was capable of viewing all the video sources located in the basement, which included SKY HD, Apple TV, Blu ray, video server and a media pc. The best part of the project and the room that really completed the property was the Cinema room.
In this room we designed spec’d and installed a 3D high end cinema that was capable of viewing all the clients media saved on a hard drive in the rack.
We also fitted some custom ceiling speakers with 2 invisible subwoofers.
On the outside of the property we spec’d and installed a high quality security and surveillance system that can be accessed by the owners from anywhere in the world. On the terrace area we fitted some weather proof speakers and a 4.5” touch panel that could access the client’s entire music collection. This property also included luxury Air Conditioning, electric blinds and automated curtains.
Planning, specifying and system integrating
SK Vision was brought in by the architect at the planning stage so that the home entertainment system could be specified and incorporated into the overall plans for the house. As the building progressed, the miles of specialist cables were installed whilst television screens, discreet speakers and touch screen controls were built into the fabric of the house. A special “rack room” was built to accommodate the media servers and amplifiers, the core of the nerve centre of entertainment system.
Once all the elements were installed, SK Vision was responsible for the integration of the entire system, testing and ensuring the controls were child’s play in the hands of the new owners.
